"Renewal of a Life"
A child's life shattered
into many pieces.
Memories, unclear, lost
pain remembered.
Deep inside, a need for life
to own one's Spirit.
To be loved and renewed
the desire to live with joy.
To become whole
and feel alive.
Casting the demons away
bringing freedom to the Soul.
Bring the spring rain
Cleansing of the broken body.
Tiny bud, impatient
to come forth with life.
Experience the scent
of life's renewal.
Finding comfort among the thorns
no longer feeling the pain.

"The truth about our childhood is stored up in our body and although we repress it, we can never alter it. Our intellect can be deceived, our feelings manipulated. our perceptions confused and our body tricked with medication. But someday the body will present its bill, for it is as incorruptible as a child who, still whole in spirit, will accept no compromises or excuses, and it will not stop tormenting us until we stop evading the truth".

I'm still thinking about this line. As a child, I used to stick needles in my gums to equalize the pain of a toothache. As best I recall, it worked!

Yep, having been raised on a farm (raised, as in 'corn' and 'tomatoes'?) I did develop a sense for and a love for, the scent of life's renewal.
Nicely written, Rainbow. Thanks!

Rainbow, you write beautiful poetry about a childhood that had little beauty in it for most of those of us who survived childhood abuse. Thank you for sharing yourself with us.
